Elf markets its products in Luxembourg

The Group is present in the country since 1965.


Since 1965

  • 1965, Creation of the UFLP (Union franco-luxembourgeoise des pétroles (UFLP), a subsidiary of the UGP (Union Générale des Pétroles, which will become later Elf), on May, the 12th.

  • 1967, Elf markets its products in Luxembourg

  • 1985, Petrofina creates a new company in Luxembourg for the production of bactericidal substances extracted from milk and intended for the food industry (announced in 1984).

  • 1987, Elf Belgium takes control of three distribution companies specialised in the sale of butane and propane in Luxembourg (Probutan Gas, Stargas and Cogegal Luxembourg).

  • 1995, Elf signs a memorandum of understanding with Shell to divesting its service stations in Belgium and Luxembourg, where their market share does not exceed 2%.

  • Today, the Group is present in Luxembourg via the marketing of petroleum products and associated services. It also carries out societal actions in the fields of sport and health.
