André Martin - Director North Africa of Elf-ERAP

Born September 16, 1906 in Elbeuf (Seine-Maritime). Lycées d'Elbeuf and Tourcoing. Central School of Paris, National School of Petroleum and Engines, Chief Engineer of Mines. Engineer at the French Standard for Petroleum (which will become Esso France) from 1935 to 1940.
Head of technical services in the fuel department (1941-1951). Head of the exploration department of Esso REP from 1951 to 1954 (date of discovery of the Parentis deposit). Entered the RAP (Régie Autonome des Petroles) as Director General (1955-1965), that is to say that he brought the RAP into exploration in the North Sea after having developed it in Algeria. CEO of Elf Rhône-Alpes (Union for refining and petrochemicals) from 1964 to 1971. CEO of the French Petroleum Company in Algeria (Sopefal) from 1965 to 1971. Vice-president of the Franco-Algerian Petroleum Cooperative Association (ASCOOP ) during the same years, then director for North Africa for ERAP, alternate administrator for ERAP. Director-general then CEO of CREPS (Company for the exploration and exploitation of petroleum in the Sahara) in 1970-1971. Director of Elf Research Exploration (Elf-RE) in 1974-1977. Director general director of PETROPAR (Company of petroleum participations).
