LOR Fire Emergency Plan
Published on June 20th 2018
I began my career at LOR 12 years ago. I am a Process Operator in the North & South blocks and utilities. I was strongly impacted by the fire that broke out in 2010, which was followed by a small explosion, the “incident ”. The refinery’s emergency plan was put into operation shortly after, and I remember how everybody worked as a team, demonstrating a very strong team spirit, to contain things, and thus avoided the situation to worsen. Only a few areas of the refinery were shut down, and a part of our activity had resumed by mid-afternoon. I chose to participate to the bicycle ride from Killingholme to Paris to commemorate the refinery’s 50th anniversary. It was also to help the Lincolnshire Air Ambulance charity whose intervention 2 ½ years ago was crucial to save my friend and colleague Steve Cook.
