Pierre Alby - President of ERAP
Born in Paris, November 23, 1921. Lycées Carnot and Saint-Louis in Paris, Blaise-Pascal in Clermont-Ferrand, École polytechnique. Engineer at the Corps des Mines. After several posts in the senior civil service, including Director of Mines at the Ministry of Industry from 1957 to 1964, he joined Gaz de France, where he became Chairman of the Board of Directors in 1979. He played an important role in developing the use of gas in France and was involved in the diversification of French supplies, with GDF signing contracts with the USSR and Algeria. Member, then vice-chairman of the Conseil Général des Mines.
Chairman of the Entreprise de recherches et d'activités pétrolières (ERAP) from 1980 to 1982, at a time when this body held the majority of the capital of SNEA on behalf of the French State. President of the Groupement international des importateurs de gaz naturel liquéfié from 1987 to 1996. Died on 22 July 1998.
